John Rigby began his career in musical theatre, working both in Europe and London’s West End.

Career Highlights

Musical supervisor credits include: UK tours of The Producers; The King and I and The Poor Soldier for the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds; the 25th anniversary tour of The Phantom of the Opera (UK and USA); the arena world tour of Jesus Christ Superstar; the Korean production of Les Misérables; and Miss Saigon at London’s Prince Edward Theatre; The Phantom of the Opera US tour and the London production, and US tour of School of Rock

Conducting credits include: the London premiere  Judith Weir’s The Black Spider at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Carmen Jones at London’s Royal Festival Hall, Carousel for Opera North, Die Fledermaus for Opera Holland Park and Madama Butterfly for Lyric Opera, Dublin. Regular concert work has included performances with the Berliner Symphoniker, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the City of London Sinfonia, the Dublin Concert Orchestra, the Hallé, the London Concert Orchestra, the Manchester Concert Orchestra, the Orchestra of Opera North, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, the Scottish Concert Orchestra and the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera. This is his debut with English National Opera.
