Njabulo Madlala
Baritone
Njabulo Madlala was born in Durban, South Africa. He trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and went on to study with Dennis O’Neill at Cardiff International Academy of Voice. He has been a Britten–Pears Young Artist, a Samling Artist and a young artist at the Ravinia International Festival. In 2010 he won the Kathleen Ferrier Award.

Career Highlights
Operatic credits include: Schaunard (ETO, Opera Holland Park); Bartolomeo Il furioso all’isola di San Domingo (ETO); Aswini Twin in the world premiere of Sukanya (ROH/LPO); several roles in The Nose (ROH); his Norwegian debut in Orlando Gough’s Voices and Votes (Bergen National Opera); Scarpia (Grange Park Opera). Concert highlights include his debut with the Minnesota Orchestra in Beethoven Symphony No. 9 in the US and on tour in South Africa; Mozart Requiem and Beethoven Symphony No. 9 (RPO); Mahler Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen (LPO); and Messiah (Philharmonia Orchestra).
