Susanna Hurell made a critically acclaimed debut with ROH as Lauretta Gianni Schicchi under Nicola Luisotti in 2016. Her pure, clear tone and warm stage presence have garnered praise from audiences and critics throughout Europe and the UK.

Career Highlights

In the 2018/19 Season, she reprises her role in Philip Venables’s 4.48 Psychosis (Prototype Festival, New York), Euridice Orfeo ed Euridice (Classical Opera) and recorded Ethel Smyth’s Mass in D (BBCSO) for Chandos. Last season she returned to the ROH as Micaëla in Barrie Kosky’s new production of Carmen conducted by Jakub Hrůša, and made her role debut as Anne Trulove The Rake’s Progress (Opera Glass Works) at Wilton’s Music Hall.

Recent operatic highlights include: Aldimira in Cavalli’s Erismena (debut at Festival d’Aix-en-Provence); Mélisande Pelléas et Mélisande (Norwegian National Opera and for Glyndebourne (cover)); title role in the world premiere of Ravi Shankar’s Sukanya (ROH and London Philharmonic Orchestra). This is her ENO debut.
