Harry Bicket was born in Liverpool and studied at the Royal College of Music and Oxford University.

Career Highlights

Internationally renowned as an opera and concert conductor of distinction, he is especially noted for his interpretation of baroque and classical repertoire and in 2007 became Artistic Director of The English Concert, one of the UK’s finest period orchestras.

He became Chief Conductor of Santa Fe Opera in 2013 and in 2018 assumed the Music Directorship. Productions at Santa Fe in recent seasons have included Così fan tutte, Fidelio, La finta giardiniera, Roméo et Juliette, Alcina and Candide.

Upcoming: Plans for the 2019/20 Season include Messiah with the New York Philharmonic, a return visit to the Metropolitan Opera (Agrippina and Così fan tutte) and performances in Santa Fe of The Magic Flute and Rusalka. With The English Concert he conducts performances of Samuel Adamson’s Gabriel including at the Barbican Centre, embarks on a tour to South Korea and China and continues their Handel opera series with performances of Rodelinda in Europe and the United States, including Carnegie Hall.
