Director

Crispin is a director, live artist and researcher working in Opera and Music-Theatre. Based between London and Berlin, he works internationally as an assistant director and has been a Staff Director at English National Opera since 2018.

 

His work has been shown at Live Art Development Agency, V&A Museum, And What Queer Arts Festival and Theatre N16. As a director, his credits include PREPARE IT (MY BODY) (Barbican Pit Theatre), A Father is Looking for his Daughter (Cockpit Theatre), Last Thursday (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama), and A Hand of Bridge (Waterperry Opera Festival). As an assistant director, his credits include The Marriage of Figaro (ENO), HMS Pinafore (ENO), La Cenerentola (Grange Festival), Don Giovanni (Teatru Manoel) The Lighthouse (Shadwell Opera), and Written on Skin (Melos Sinfonia in St Petersburg).

 

In 2021 he received funding from Arts Council England to pursue a composition- and performance-based research project into the reception of political documentary theatre and opera. In 2022 he will develop this further on the MA Solo/Dance/Authorship at the Inter-University Centre of Dance (HZT) and University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin.
