Gemma Summerfield
Soprano
Gemma Summerfield was awarded First Prize at the 2022 Tenor Viñas contest and the 2019 Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino, the 2018 Susan Chilcott Award, the Duo Prize at the 2017 Wigmore Hall International Song Competition, and both First Prize and the Song Prize at the 2015 Ferrier Awards.
She is a Silver Medal Holder and Yeoman The Worshipful Company of Musicians and a Carne Scholar.
In the 2022/23 Season she sings Erste Dame (Staatsoper Hamburg) and Ulana Manru (Opéra National de Lorraine). She performs and records Delius’s A Mass for Life (Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra) and Elgar’s The Kingdom (Hallé). Carmen is her ENO debut.

Operatic highlights include Mimì (NI Opera); Fiordiligi (Opéra National du Rhin); Pamina (Glyndebourne, Scottish Opera); Nannetta (Scottish Opera); Paula Jordan in the European premiere of William Bolcom’s Dinner at Eight (Wexford Festival Opera); Rodelinda (ENO, cover); Gretel, Ginevra, Rosalinde (RCM).
On the concert platform, highlights include appearances with the RPO, the OAE, the Mozart Festival Orchestra and Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne.
Recital appearances include Oxford Lieder Festival, Leeds Lieder and Wigmore Hall.
