Ashley Riches studied at GSMD, he was a member of the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the ROH from 2012–14 and was a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist until December 2018.

Career Highlights

Notable engagements elsewhere: Osmano L’Ormindo, Michael in the world premiere of Eichberg’s Glare (ROH), title role Owen Wingrave (Opéra national de Lorraine); Claudio Agrippina (Grange Festival Opera); in concert, Shostakovich’s Orango (RPO/ Salonen); Claudio Béatrice et Bénédict (SCO/Ticciati); Polyphemus Acis and Galatea, The Fairy Queen, Dido & Aeneas (AAM/Egarr); Pollux Castor and Pollux (Early Opera Company/Curnyn). Particular highlights include his debut with the LSO/Rattle in Bernstein’s Wonderful Town, Harry Heegan The Silver Tassie (BBCSO/Ryan Wigglesworth) and Creon Oedipus Rex (Berliner Philharmoniker/Gardiner).

Recent engagements include: Brander La damnation de Faust (Glyndebourne/Ticciati), Ibn-Hakia Iolanta (Opera Holland Park); a new Wake-Walker production at the Potsdamer Winteroper as Simon Peter in Schubert’s/Vivier’s Lazarus –Lonely Child; King Arthur (Gabrieli Consort/McCreesh on tour); Bernardino Benvenuto Cellini (Monteverdi Choir/ Gardiner on tour).
