In 1997.
Favourite ENO opera?
Richard Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier.
Best ENO moment?
Peter Grimes at the BBC Proms in 2012.
How did you start?
I began learning the double bass with Peter White at the local comprehensive school when I was 11 and playing in the orchestras at the North East Derbyshire Music Centre in Chesterfield.
Passion outside of opera?
Teaching double bass locally where I live in Norfolk, and looking after our three rescue dogs.
