Emma Bell trained at the RAM and NOS and continues to study with Joy Mammen.

Career Highlights

Notable engagements elsewhere: Pamina, Micaëla, Alcina, Mimì (Berlin Komische Oper); title role Rodelinda (Glyndebourne, Châtelet); Female Chorus The Rape of Lucretia (Lausanne); Governess The Turn of the Screw (Dallas Opera); Donna Elvira Don Giovanni (ROH); Alcina (Opéra National de Paris); Elettra, Anne Truelove, Donna Elvira (La Scala). She is also an acclaimed concert artist and has sung internationally with conductors such as Elder, Mackerras, Pappano, Slatkin and Ticciati. From a prestigious early career built predominantly on Mozart’s leading ladies she has in recent years debuted a number of jugendlich-dramatisch roles including Eva Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Elisabeth Tannhäuser (ROH), and Elsa Lohengrin (WNO). Recent seasons have seen her debut at Bayerische Staatsoper as Eva, performances as Madame Lidoine Dialogues des Carmélites (Staatsoper Hamburg), Freia Das Rheingold in concert with Sir Mark Elder/Hallé Orchestra and most recently title role Vanessa (Glyndebourne).

Forthcoming: Venus and Elisabeth Tannhäuser (Deutsche Oper Berlin); Matilde in semi-staged concert performances of Mascagni’s Silvano (Scottish Opera).
