Peter van Praet began his career the Flemish Opera. Since then, he has been lighting designer on opera productions with Valentina Carrasco, La Fura Dels Baus, Robert Carsen and Pierre Audi.

Makropoulos Case (Strasbourg); Don Giovanni (La Scala); Falstaff (ROH, La Scala); the creation of JJR (Geneva); The Love of Three Oranges (Berlin); From the House of the Dead, Cunning Little Vixen (Strasbourg) Platée (Theater an der Wien).
With Pierre Audi, he has worked on productions of Les Troyens (Amsterdam), and Alcina and Zoroastre (Drottningholm, Amsterdam). He collaborated with La Fura Dels Baus: the Ring cycle (Valencia, Florence, Houston) with Carlus Padrissa, and also Les Troyens; with Alex Olle and Valentina Carrasco, Le Grand Macabre (Brussels, ENO, Rome, Adelaide, Barcelona, Buenos Aires), and recently Oedipe (Brussels, Buenos Aires). He has also lit the Ring cycle (Buenos Aires), Turn of the Screw (Lyon), Don Giovanni (Perm), La belle au bois dormant (Strasbourg) and Carmen (Rome).
