ENO 2018/19 Porgy and Bess: Tichina-Vaughn

Tichina Vaughn began her career as a member of the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Program and has established an important presence among leading opera houses and concert halls worldwide. This is her ENO debut.

Career Highlights

In the 2017/18 Season Tichina achieved great success in her debut as The Mother in Dallapiccola’s Il prigionero, as Herodias Salome and as Brigitta Die tote Stadt (Semperoper Dresden). She returned to the Metropolitan Opera for Elektra and made her debut with State Opera Hannover in Henze’s Der junge Lord. In the 2016/17 Season she made her debut at Milan’s Teatro alla Scala as Maria Porgy and Bess, reprised Klytemnestra Elektra and Ice Queen Schwanda the Bagpiper (Semperoper) and returned to the Spoleto Festival USA as Filipyevna Eugene Onegin. Previous successes have included Azucena Il trovatore (Greek National Opera) and Amneris Aida (Arena di Verona) among others.

Forthcoming: this season she will debut at Dutch National Opera (Porgy and Bess), return to the Metropolitan Opera for a new production of Dialogues des Carmélites, and appear at the Staatstheater Gärtnerplatz in a new production of Der junge Lord.
