Whitaker Mills studied at the Royal Academy of Music and at the Alexander Gibson Opera School at Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where he gained an MMus and MOpera (both with distinction).

Career Highlights
Notable engagements elsewhere: Cancian School for Fathers, Master of Ceremonies Cendrillion, Speaker/Second Armed Man The Magic Flute conducted by Sir Colin Davis (RAM); Le Roi Cendrillion, Minsk Man Flight, and title roles Gianni Schicchi and Eugene Onegin (RSAMD). He has most recently performed Sharpless (Opera Bohemia, toured to London, Derbyshire and Cambridgeshire). He has been in the Chorus of Scottish Opera for productions of Rigoletto, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Cavalleria rusticana/Pagliacci, Tosca, The Magic Flute and Turandot. He has also sung in the Chorus of Opera North in Turandot, Death in Venice, Götterdämmerung, The Flying Dutchman, Carousel, The Barber of Seville, Jenufa, L’elisir d’amore and Andrea Chénier, in which he covered Pietro Fleville and Fouquier-Tinville. He has also covered Second Gunman Kiss Me, Kate (Opera North). He works frequently for Opera North’s Education department and recently performed Elgar’s Fringes of the Fleet and the first set of Copland’s Old American Songs in Leeds Town Hall with the Orchestra of Opera North. This is his ENO debut.
