Celebrating Finish This... 2022-23: Primary & SEND Copy Copy
An inclusive national music making programme for KS2 and SEND learners; inspiring young composers across the country.
“The recent Finish This project has completely raised the profile of composing in our school… It was the most exciting project, broke down so many barriers and was completely inclusive.”
Bringing together a fusion of opera, film and animation: Finish This… is a creative springboard for collaborative composition work in the classroom. Using an especially commissioned operatic piece, and supported with teacher CPD and toolkit package resources.
In Autumn 2022, we invited 5000 pupils from across the country, to step into the role of an ENO Composer. We asked each class to create and produce their own music through an invitation to respond to, and resolve, purposefully unfinished piece of opera. Schools were provided with Teacher CPD training, toolkit resources, a suite of digital films and an operatic piece, especially commissioned for young audiences.
We are thrilled to present and celebrate their music compositions and creative work. A huge congratulations to all our young composers.

What Teachers have to say:
It was lovely to see those children that don’t normally achieve things in an English lesson or a maths lesson, actually achieving in that music lesson and working collaboratively. There’s so many skills that were developed alongside the music, and I think that was really powerful.
It provided us with a well-structured but creatively open framework which gave the children the opportunity to explore sound in a context they might otherwise not encounter.
The kids were introduced to opera in the most child friendly way, breaking down the component parts so they understood each bit and felt confident in what they were doing.
Thank you to you all for making everything so straightforward and easy to understand for us non-specialists. It has clearly been well thought out.
I have just finished watching the CPD recording in my PPA time and wanted you to know how much more confident I am feeling about delivering the sessions and how excited I am to start next week!
